I installed mine in a 2005 Subaru Baja with a stock sound system. Great product does everything it says it does. Eliminates static, but can be a space problem if you have very limited space behind your deck.
The contrast between using the Fm-signal wire that comes with the Sportster5 versus this item is significant. Simply astounding. Purchased this for my 2001 Toyota Sequoia SUV. The signal clarity sounds like we're listening to an FM station while parked next door to the station. I highly recommend this item if you don't have an AUX input in your vehicle radio. Installing was easy, though there were no screw-mount-holes to use on this item. Using it with a new Sirius Sportster5.
Try a stereo store. Be warned, do not go to radio shack, they do not have the connectors there. I had my stereo pulled out of the dash and disassembled (to properly install the wires in the dash) before I realized that I needed another piece.
It actually makes the sat radio come in stereo rather just single channel. Install was easy except for one thing. I love how this thing works.
My factory installed radio used a different type of plug than the one that was on the unit. However, this little thing is worth the effort. Also areas of my commute where the radio interference was greatest is now gone.
I get clear sat radio everywhere I go.
It was easy to install on my car. Great product. I would recommend this over any wireless transmitter.
It is night and day compared with the hiss and static of my FM transmitter. My 1999 Saturn had GM-style antenna attachments, and I had to get adapters so that the antenna connector would fit properly.
com website quite helpful in doing my own installation of the adapter - it doesn't appear to have every vehicle out there, but it does have a good number of them. These are pretty common - just be aware before you have your radio and its wiry guts hanging out in your car that you'll need it, or else you may be momentarily stuck.I found the installdr.
I recently upgraded from an older Sirius radio to a Starmate 5, which seems to have a weaker FM transmitter than my older model (though its feature set as a whole is considerably improved). Depending on the model of your radio or car, you may need further equipment.
I now have fewer wires hanging around in my car, and much improved sound quality. As a result of a few annoying commutes, I decided to go buy and install this direct FM adapter.First off, I am exceptionally pleased with the improvement in sound quality.
I would happily recommend this to anyone.Second, the caveat - it is worth spending a little extra time if you intend to install the adapter yourself.
